More about us:
About Tara: Tara grew up in Oregon and studied abroad her second year of university in Querétaro, México. She loved living in México so much that she did everything she could to move to México after graduating from University of Oregon. Once graduated from UofO with a degree in Psychology and Spanish, she took an intensive ESL teaching program in Puerto Vallarta and then taught ESL for 2 years in Guadalajara, México. After living in México for 2.5 years, she backpacked through Central America with her two good friends, Jen and Trish. After the 3 month backpacking trip (we are talking REAL backpacking, ie living out of your large backpack, staying at hostels and eating beans and rice to save money), they moved to Santiago, Chile to teach ESL and explore Chile.
Tara met Fernando a mere 2 weeks after arriving in Chile in the bohemian Bellavista neighborhood of Santiago. They dated, fell in love and after 1.5 years of Tara living in Chile (Fernando 22 years), they moved to Oregon. Tara and Fernando lived in Oregon for 2 years, then decided to move somewhere more sunny and ended up in Austin, TX for the next 17 years, where both M1 and M2 were born. During that time, they continued to travel as much as possible to show the kids the world and fulfill the wanderlust. In 2021, the family decided to move to Lisbon, Portugal to have a new adventure and have called Portugal home since July 2021. They continue to travel as much as possible and love the endless opportunities to travel throughout Europe. This vegan family travel blog is full of advice, tips, itineraries and fun things to do all throughout the world and of course, where to find the most delicious vegan food during your travels.
About Fernando: Fernando grew up in Santiago, Chile and studied advertising, communication and graphic design at University of Santiago. Shortly after college, he met Tara while she was living in Santiago and he was working at an advertising agency. They moved to Oregon after dating for 1.5 years and got married after being together for 2 years. Oregon is a lush, green, beautiful state, but as it rains a lot and Tara can only handle so much rain, they decided to move to Austin, TX. They had an amazing life in Austin, but were itching to live abroad and show their kids another way of living. They moved to Lisbon in July 2021 and currently reside in Almada, just across the river from Lisbon. Tara, Fernando and the kids continue to travel as much as possible and bring you this insider’s knowledge (via the blog) of the various places they visit. Fernando is also a visual artist and has a studio at LX Factory in Lisbon (1st floor, Loja 14).
M1: first born child, super creative, artistic, great storyteller. She is bound to do amazing things and plans on becoming an Animator in the future.
M2: second born, super intelligent, loves gaming, great at math and plans on studying Engineering in Germany or elsewhere in Europe in the future.
