The nearest airport is the Copenhagen airport. If you are coming from Copenhagen, like we were, the best way to reach Malmö is via train from the Copenhagen central station. You can buy your tickets at Copenhagen Central and take the train from there. It’s a 40-minute train ride. Hot Tip: if there are 2 or more in your group, buy round-trip group tickets as it ends up being much more economical than buying individual tickets.
Another hot tip: Your train ticket from Copenhagen to Malmö allows for free public transportation in Malmö. This makes it easier to see everything you want to see on a day trip to Malmö!

This twisting structure stands 190 meters tall, with nine cubes stacked on top of each other, each rotated 90 degrees.

This is a bit far from the center of town, but if you appreciate engineering feats, you may want to make the trip to see it up close. To truly appreciate the beauty and grandeur of the Öresund Bridge, you have to see it up close. This bridge connects Malmö to Copenhagen and stretches an impressive 8 kilometers, making it the longest combined road and rail bridge in Europe.
Take a stroll along the beach underneath the bridge and gaze up at the massive steel structure as it rises high overhead. You’ll have a newfound appreciation for the engineering marvel that seamlessly connects Denmark and Sweden.
Visit the Malmö Saluhall for a taste of local flavors
A visit to Malmö wouldn’t be complete without experiencing the local food scene. Head over to Malmö Saluhall, a bustling market hall filled with over 20 vendors offering the freshest and most delicious produce from the region.
If you’re in need of a caffeine fix, stop by Solde Kaffebar for a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. Indulge in some Swedish sweets at Chokladfabriken, where you can satisfy your sweet tooth with handcrafted chocolates and pastries. They usually have at least 1-2 vegan options.

This is truly a stunning area, but also very busy with tourists. It’s a great place to visit for a short time while making your way back to the train station. The main square is located here and and is a great spot to take photos of the city centre. This is considered the old town and is one of the best places to either start your day or end your day in Malmo.

Head to Vegegarden for a vibrant and healthy meal. Their menu boasts a variety of plant-based options, as part of the buffet. It comes highly rated. We tried to eat here during our visit, but unfortunately, they were closed for the summer holidays.
For a cozy and intimate atmosphere, make your way to Rau. Their vegan and raw food menu features organic dishes made with local ingredients. Try their zucchini noodles with sun-dried tomato pesto or their famous marinated mushroom burger for a truly unique dining experience.
Finally, end your day (or have brunch/lunch here) with a visit to Farm2Table. The food is healthy, creative, and delicious.

Absolutely! We loved Malmo and highly recommend a visit there, esp if you are staying nearby in Copenhagen. The city was quiet, yet had an undeniable youthful energy and exuberance.

Summer, from June to August, tends to be the most popular time due to milder temperatures, longer daylight hours, and various outdoor events and festivals. This season is ideal for exploring Malmö’s parks, beaches, and outdoor attractions, as well as enjoying activities like cycling and boat tours. Spring (April to May) and early autumn (September to October) can also be pleasant, with fewer crowds and still relatively mild weather. However, if you’re a fan of winter activities such as ice skating or cozying up in cafes, then the colder months from November to March might appeal to you. Ultimately, the best time to visit Malmö depends on your interests and what you hope to experience during your trip.
