Anytime is a good time! During the winter, you will mostly have the beaches to yourself, but many of the seasonal restaurants and shops will be closed. If you go during the high season – June-September, you will be sharing the beaches with thousands of people, but everything will be open and the lifeguards will be patrolling the beaches. If you go in the shoulder season, April-May, Sept-October, there will be less crowds, nice weather and the shops and restaurants should still be open. The shoulder season is always my favorite time to travel in Portugal.
